The Compromise Over Slavery

In the years leading up to the Civil War, there were growing tensions between the North and the South. The issue that was causing the majority of the turmoil was the issue of slavery.Three compromises were formed in dealing with slavery, with the primary goal of each to decide how to diffuse tensions over slavery by compromises that would appease both sides of the argument. Both the North and South fought over certain provisions that would be made to the compromise because they had difficulty agreeing on a solution.

These three compromises were the Missouri Compromise of 1820, the Compromise of 1850, and the Kansas-Nebraska Act.You will give the specifics of each compromise on your poster (see example). You will use a computer to find the information and then display your information on the construction paper provided for you.
